"So, to begin, over here is the age of the caveman exhibit." Zed happily explained as he lead Cammie and Mikayla through the new section of the museum. Cammie continued to sketch down in her journal, despite knowing all that Zed was explaining. Mikayla calmly walked, comparing the clue they got with various exhibits. Cammie wanted to speak up and tell Zed that they both probably already knew all this stuff, but she didn't want to deter the kid either. She calmly walked along, sketching and enjoying the tour. "Onto this section of the medieval age..." continued Zed, rambling on with his cheery voice.
"Hey, Mikayla?" Cammie whispered.
"Yeah?" Mikayla whispered back.
"Is Zed related to Harley? Seems he would be."
"Nope, not at all." That surprised Cammie, expecting that Zed would be related to Harley, who both are cheery and happy, as far as Cammie was aware. She calmly continued walking trying not to bother Zed or Mikayla. There wasn't really anything that caught her eye. Various suits of armor from multiple times were lined along the walls, sporting their weapon of choice. Cammie didn't see any sensors or cameras anywhere in the museum, but they could possibly have been hidden within the pieces themselves. She wondered if there was any, and she decided to test it, but Mikayla interrupted her before she could.
"Oh, Cammie, you got a phone, right?" Cammie nodded to Mikayla. She had a bizarre model known as the AndromA 5. She designed it herself to replicate the T8s. It fit perfectly into the side of her sCAn Pad, which she kept safely tucked in a secret compartment in the back pages of her journal. Mikayla opened up her phone. It was a new phone that had recently come out, the T8-22 Model. The T8 models were produced by the new global European company, Mad H@cker Enterprises. They had amazing capabilities that were beyond the cell phones that people had before it was introduced. Within the last two years, over 20 models had been released, with the previous models being reused to make newer models. Mikayla handed her phone to Cammie with the intent of having her phone number, in case she would need to contact her. There was a distinctive phone hanger in the shape of a 6-petal flower. Cammie punched her numbers into Mikayla's phone and handed it back to her. Mikayla slipped her phone back into her pocket and continued walking, until Zed stopped them.
"So, this concludes the basic overview of the tour. You're free to explore the rest of the museum yourself, but just be sure not to touch anything." Zed said. With that, he walked off, leaving Mikayla and Cammie in the Medieval section of the museum.
"Okay, I think it would be best if we split up. I'll take the west wing," Mikayla said, pointing to the Ancient Civilizations sections of the museum, "And you take the east wing. We'll meet up at the entrance." She pointed to the Modern Day section of the museum and walked off to her sector. Cammie waited until Mikayla was fully out of range to reach into her pocket and pull out her Cloaking Device.
It was a small, disk-like device that had a suction cup-like backing. There was a blue center that pulsed, letting Cammie know it was functioning. All that had to be done was to place it on an object. Once that was done, the device emits a strong electromagnetic pulse that surrounds the wearer with a specialized nanoscopic coating. Using specialized nanocameras, the coating showed what was behind the wearer from the viewer's perspective, rendering them invisible, but still making them able to see what's going on around them. However, the device has its limitations. It makes the wearer invisible to him or herself, unable to see his or her own limbs. The device also does not hide shadows or disguise sounds. They still are susceptible to the other senses or viewers, such as smell, hearing, or touch.
Cammie hid herself into a corner of the museum, where she was certain no one could see her. Crouching behind a tapestry, Cammie placed the device on herself and waited for the coating to surround her before emerging. She quickly ran along the sides, hiding her shadow in the shadows of the artifacts. Entering the east section, Cammie looked around, quickly observing all that there was.
There were many pop art pictures that hung on the walls, and various modern art sculptures that dotted the ground. Multiple inventions that were introduced during the modern era, such as the telephone, radio, and rockets. Cammie crawled along the walls, sketching down the exhibits that were all throughout the rooms. She moved from room to room, trying to compare what there was with the clue she got from Tyler. She didn't see anything, but there was something that caught her attention. It was an odd, bellowing sound that Cammie was not familiar with.
Moving to a room that was covered in rust colored tiles and rocks, she saw a young woman in the center of the room, sitting on a bench. Cammie felt her nose tickle. She wore a yellow T-shirt, like Zed, so she must be a worker in the museum. She had long blue jeans on and black sneakers. Her hair was a light cherry blonde with blue tints, and reached down to her waist. Her hair covered a majority of her right side of her face, with a massive red highlight in the center of it. On her left wrist, she wore a watch, and on her right, she had a pearl bracelet. In her right hand, she held a long, wooden instrument. It was about 2/3 of her height and had some metal outlining holes in the instrument. She played it like a clarinet, or a flute, blowing into it from the top, but there was only one hole, and it was at the bottom. It made an odd bellowing noise that was oddly compelling. The woman kept her eyes closed as she played, a keen sense of calm surrounded her. Cammie wanted to approach her, but then she remembered she was invisible and reappearing out of no where would attract attention. She calmly hid in the shadows and waited, making mental notes of her observations. The instrument the woman played obstructed Cammie's view of the woman's name tag, so she made a note to ask Mikayla about her later.
Suddenly, the woman stopped playing her instrument and rested it against her left shoulder, continuing to block the view of the name tag. The woman reached into her right pocket and pulled out a phone that was ringing on vibrate. Cammie clamped her nose closed with her fingers. The phone was the same model and color as Mikayla's, but the woman's had a boomerang phone hanger. She held the phone with her left hand and held the instrument in place with her right.
"G'day, mate." She spoke with a distinct mix of a British and Australian accent. Cammie couldn't hear what the other person on the phone said, but the woman quickly looked around her, as if looking for someone. "Saw about 15 sheep that stand out like shag on a rock." The woman's eyes narrowed as she glanced around a second time. "Yeah, the coast be clear." Cammie wondered what was going on. The woman quickly stood up and turned around, too fast for Cammie to read her name tag. "What? That wog wuss got to her first? I ought to blue that yobbo." The woman sighed and looked around again. "Sorry about that. So, she still be here?.......This is why you can't trust him to do something like that....Alright, I got it. Green o-" Cammie tried to hold in her sneeze, but it was too much and she sneezed, quickly covering up her mouth as fast as possible. The woman turned around and looked for the source of the sneeze. She glared right where Cammie was, where she heard the source of the sneeze. Cammie was too nervous to look at her name tag before the woman turned back around. "Sorry about that. Thought I heard someone. Green out."
Cammie quickly darted out of the room and made her way to where she and Mikayla agreed they'd meet. She hid in the corner and deactivated her Cloaking Device and slipped it back into her jacket. Pulling out her journal, Cammie scribbled down the woman and what part of the conversation Cammie could hear. She took some deep breaths to calm her nerves when Mikayla came out of the corner about 5 minutes later.
"Well, I didn't find anything." Mikayla sighed and approached Cammie. "You find anything interesting?"
"That's one way to put things." Cammie chuckled, but gave Mikayla a look that said she didn't find anything related to the clue either.
"Well, no use sticking around here any more then. Let's keep looking. Maybe Tyler made a new break in the case while we were o-" There it was again. The odd bellowing sound from the instrument that woman worker was playing. Cammie looked behind Mikayla and Mikayla turned around to see the woman sitting on another bench, playing the instrument. "Huh, Xandie's playing her didgeridoo again instead of working. Not really a surprise, I guess." Mikayla shrugged and began to walk out the door, but Cammie stopped her. "Huh?" Mikayla gave Cammie a confused look.
"That lady, Xandie, is that her name?" Cammie spoke in a hushed tone and Mikayla nodded. "I had overheard a conversation she had. She was on the phone with someone." Cammie opened up her journal and showed Mikayla the page with Xandie's conversation. Mikayla reviewed the conversation, then laughed.
"Cammie, Xandie is a big fan of RPs, or role plays. That was just a conversation between another Roleplayer and her." Mikayla closed the journal and pushed it gently back into Cammie's hands. "Here, let's go talk to her about it. I'm sure she won't mind." Mikayla walked over and gently tapped Xandie on the shoulder. She stopped playing and looked at Mikayla with a lazy look in her eyes. Xandie yawned and held her didgeridoo to her side.
"G'Day Mikayla. Can I help you with something? Cause if there's not, I'll be glad to get back to my music." She spoke with more of a uncaring tone than when she was on the phone.
"I just wanted to introduce you to my new assistant, Cammie." Mikayla beckoned for Cammie to come over, but Cammie calmly declined. Mikayla wasn't about to accept that, so she walked behind Cammie and nudged her forward. Cammie stumbled a little, before readjusting her jacket.
"Hello there, um, Xandie, was it?" Xandie nodded and rested on her arm on her didgeridoo, "My name is Cammie. It's nice to meet you." Xandie lazily looked at Cammie, then to Mikayla, then back to Cammie, then looked up at the ceiling.
"Huh, I guess Zed's going to have to fix that crack up there. I know I'm not." With that, she blew into her didgeridoo, making a distinct one note, which she held for a while. Within a few seconds, Zed came around the corner and saluted to all three of them.
"How may I be of assistance?" He asked exuberantly. Xandie pointed to the crack on the ceiling and Zed quickly ran off to get supplies. Xandie looked back at Cammie and yawned.
"So, new assistant, huh? What does she do?" Xandie slowly blinked and looked at Mikayla.
"She's going to be helping me around the office and help to solve anything tricky." Mikayla shuffled around her vest, looking for the clue that Tyler had given them. "Can you tell me anything about this?" Mikayla presented the slip of paper . Xandie looked it over a couple times before looking back at Mikayla.
"Do I have to?" she asked apathetically.
"Yes Xandie. You're already making Zed repair the crack." Mikayla rolled her eyes and Cammie couldn't help but smirk a little.
"Well, this is part of an executive ticket. That's for the upper floors. Though it's not quite open yet. Only a select few can go in there so far, I mean, I guess." Xandie replied, yawning now and then.
"Who so far has had entrance and opportunity to get an executive ticket?" Cammie asked, hoping that this would make a massive break in the case.
"Umm...I guess, it were Tyler, Harley, Rick, Catalina, Carlos, Darla, Vik, Willis, Alexis, and of course; your sister Magdalena, Mikayla." Xandie replied, looking in the direction of Mikayla when she mentioned her sister. Cammie's smirk faded away and was replaced with a twinge of doubt. This did narrow the search significantly, but she didn't know any if any of them could have been Snipe in disguise. Snipe could have been set up here before and managed to make a perfect alias, which he commonly did on missions. She pulled out her journal and wrote down all the names.
"Can we go see the floor?" Mikayla asked, making sure to flash her sheriff badge to Xandie. Xandie glanced at Mikayla's badge, then back to her face.
"I mean, I guess I still have to charge you." Xandie's voice was drifting more and more sleepily, but she still seemed wide awake. Mikayla sighed and handed the money to Xandie. "Alright, we know you'll be up there. You can just go, no need to hassle with tickets." Xandie pointed to a set of stairs that was roped off behind her.
Mikayla nodded and lead herself and Cammie up stairs. However, before Cammie began walking up, she stopped and glanced at both Zed and Xandie again. There was something about them that was oddly compelling about them, as if she knew them. She shook it off, as she's never been here and those two have never visited Galupeagus.
The thought never left her mind though, that they reminded her of someone who died recently she was close to. But that's impossible for them to be them. Surge and Nicole died right before her eyes...didn't they?
.
"Hey, Mikayla?" Cammie whispered.
"Yeah?" Mikayla whispered back.
