"Wait, what!?" Gisella exclaimed, Ivanna's jacket fluttering in the breeze, "Tyrell's band is the Dead Rights!?"
"Yeah, that's what Juni said, mon," Larissa said, huddling into her own jacket, "Can we please get out of the cold?" Gisella nodded and the two of them headed towards Ivanna's house. The two of them got inside right as Isabella had pulled into the driveway. They shut the door behind them and Larissa quickly headed to the kitchen to make some warm tea. Isabella walked in from the garage and set her briefcase on the ground. She sighed and floped down on the couch. Gisella sat down next to her.
"Today was rough. Cursed expenditures didn't even send out and people are behind on their reports...GAH!" Isabella complained. She sighed and then turned to Gisella. "Sorry about that. How you been, Gisella?"
"I've been alright. We moved onto the next round," Gisella said, pulling out a printed sheet of paper, "Now there are only 256 bands left in the competition."
"Wow, those numbers sure dwindled fast. Guess they really calculated everything out," Isabella said, taking a look at the paper, "Seems that next, you'll be going up against some group called 'Little Boys Blue.' Not the name I would have chosen for a band, but I guess it works for them."
Gisella turned around to see how far away Larissa was, then turned back to Isabella. "Isabella, professionally speaking, do you think that just me and Larissa could work as a band?"
"Well," Isabella replied, "I have seen and heard my fair share of two person bands." Gisella's eyes actually seemed a little disheartened at the news, "However, given both of your musical experience, I don't think you two will be able to win with just yourselves." Gisella's eyes perked up and she smiled. "What are you smiling about?" Isabella nervously asked.
"I was thinking..." Gisella started.
"That's always a bad sign," Isabella teased, but listened.
"I was thinking about adding Rosa to our band," Gisella explained, "I heard her playing a few days ago and she sounds really good."
"Hmm, I haven't ever heard her play before," Isabella said, "Have you talked to Larissa about it?"
"Larissa is less than excited about the idea, but we need another member if we're going to have a good chance to win."
"True," Isabella said, "How do you think you'll convince her?"
Gisella sighed and pondered for a bit, "I'm not sure, but I better think of something soon."

"ARGH! It don't make sense, mon," Larissa exclaimed, slamming her knife on the grill, "Why can't I get the notes to sound right?"
"Well, you are trying to make a song from just a bass guitar and drums," Naomi stated, drinking a glass of Caribbean Splash.
"I know that, but still, mon. I shouldn't be having trouble with this," Larissa sighed and sliced up some vegetables for another customer.
"Have you had any inspiration for a song? Maybe if you write the lyrics first, the notes will just flow to you," Naomi suggested.
Larissa sighed and rested her head on her arm after cleaing her grill. "Maybe, I don't know, mon." She twirled her knife in her right hand and stared off into the distance until Naomi interrupted her train of thought.
"That's quite the knife you've got there. I've never seen a kind like that," Naomi said, leaning in to try to get a closer look.
Larissa was taken aback by this and leaned away from Naomi, but still tried to keep her ground. "Umm, thanks, I guess, mon."
Naomi laughed, her night black hair bobbing, and leaned in even closer. "That doesn't look like a Rawchester Knife. What kind of knife is it?"
"You know knives, mon?" Larissa asked, a bit nervous.
"Yeah, they've just always fascinated me for some reason," Naomi said, drinking some more of her Caribbean Splash, "Your knife sure seems to go through quite the bit of abuse."
Larissa chuckled and twirled her knife, bringing it up to her face and kissing the spine of it. "This little baby of mine has been with me ever since I was born, mon. I think it belonged to my mum, whoever she be."
"Oh, I'm sorry," Naomi apologized, "I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories."
Larissa shook her head and laughed a little. "I ain't got any bad memories of my parents, because I don't have any memories of them at all, mon."
"You don't?" Naomi asked, a bit surprised.
"None at all, mon. I was raised in an orphanage and fled to America when I was young," Larissa said, kissing the spine of her knife again.
"You were raised in Jamaica, correct?" Naomi asked.
"That's right, mon."
"Then, how did you wind up all the way in Utah? I'd expect you in somewhere like Florida or Georgia. You know, somewhere on the east coast," Naomi said.
"Well, it's quite the long story, mon," Larissa said, this time juggling her knife and a few potatoes in the air.
"I don't really have anywhere to go," Naomi said, drinking some more Caribbean Splash, "and it doesn't really look like there are too many customers."
Larissa chuckled and caught all the potatoes on her left arm and her knife by the handle with her right. "Alright then, if you really want to know, I'll tell you mon. It started when I first decided to leave the orphanage..."

"I can't believe it's already Halloween," Gisella said, clutching Ivanna's jacket tighter from the wind, "I really hope this party doesn't last too long."
"Hey now, mon," Larissa said, huddling herself inside a large wool coat, "If there's any excuse to keep out of this cold, it's worth staying."
"If you wanted to keep warm, you should have stayed home," Larissa said, stopping to adjust her leg brace, "You didn't have to come, you know."
Larissa laughed and adjusted her hockey mask. "You think I'd miss out on something like this, mon? It's about time that I finally managed to get everything together for my costume. I've been planning to dress up as Jason for years now."
"What's stopped you before?" Larissa asked, looking over Larissa's well made costume, "I can't imagine that costume's taken you years to make."
"I just never found time to wear it properly, mon," Larissa said, twirling her knife, "I always had to work before whenever there was a Hallow's Eve party."
"I can see how that would be a hinderance," Gisella said, starting to limp along.
They arrived at the party a few minutes later. It was being held at the gym on Globellum U, the same one that Gisella had used to seek shelter from the rain storm weeks ago. The lights were dimmed and covered in purple, green, and orange sheets of film, casting an eerie glow over the court. Tables had been set up along the sides of the gym for snacks and drinks, each with their own dry ice station to add extra fog. People were scattered all around the dance floor, all of them in costume. Some of the people had costumes that were bought, others had hand-made ones. Both Larissa and Gisella prided themselves on always making their own costumes. A DJ was playing music in front of the stage, but it seemed like he wasn't the only form of musical entertainment tonight. A stage had been set up on the far wall from the entrance, along with a drum kit and instruments.
"Hope they weren't expecting us to play, mon," Larissa said, looking around the dance floor. She twirled her knife in one hand and opened up a flask with the other.
"You're drinking already, Larissa? We just got here," Gisella said to Larissa in a hushed tone.
Larissa laughed and turned to her zombie friend, "You really think I wasn't going to drink today?"
"Well," Gisella said, "I knew you planned to. I just didn't think that it would be so soon."
Larissa chuckled and dranks some more. She put her flask back in her jacket and started to walk around the dance floor. Gisella tried to follow her, but the sea of people separated the two fo them. Larissa worked her way to the center of the dance floor and started to dance, letting go of anything social fears. Gisella saw her and smiled. She wished she could be as impulsive and expressive as her friend, but instead, she kept near the back.
October 31, 2011 9:30 PM
The dance floor had turned into an arena as Larissa took on dance challengers, knocking them all down one by one with her moves. Despite never having a formal lesson on dancing, Larissa's natural attractive and showboat motions helped her win the applause of the crowd. Her drinking also helped her to let go of any fears when she danced. Larissa was one of those people who could get so drunk, they were somehow even more amazing at different things without negative effects. Larissa claimed it was due to her being both amazonian height and of Jamaican origin. The music played was mainly a mix of techno and pop, but despite being not the sort of music Larissa was used to, she had no problems improvising dance after dance. One of the competitors lost, and now exhausted, walked over to the punch bowl near where Gisella was standing.
"Man, she is good," said the girl dressed as a succubus. Her voice sounded familiar, but the succubus had a voice distortion device around her neck like a choker. She wore a mask over her face that covered all but her lips. "I've never seen anyone be able to dance like that."
"Yeah," Gisella said, dancing by herself, softly moving her hips and shoulders to the beat, "She's real great when it comes to showing off."
"I can tell," the succubus said. She drank some of the punch and leaned against the wall, "So, you know her?"
"Yeah, we've been good friends for quite some time," Gisella replied, getting back into character and slurring some of her words. She paused a few times when talking and gave a dazed look to the succubus.
"Wow, that's an excellent zombie costume you got there," the succubus replied.
Gisella smiled and gave her best zombie groan. "Thanks. Nice succubus outfit."
"Oh, thanks," the succubus said, drinking more of the punch. The two of them turned back to watching Larissa, who definitely seemed to be wearing out. "Seems like the dancing queen might just need to step down from her throne for a bit."
"Yeah, definitely seems that way," Gisella chuckled, drinking some punch, "So, do you have any idea who's performing tonight?"
"No, but I heard it's a local band. They're going to perform and record their song for this round's Battle of the Bands," the succubus replied.
Man, I wish that we had thought of that Gisella thought.
The music from the DJ suddenly died down as the DJ began to pack up. A murmur rose from the crowd, but then it escaladed into a roar of applause. The lights shifted from Larissa and the dance floor onto the stage, but the crowd of people made it too hard to see who was actually getting on stage. Gisella tired to stand on her toes in order to see, but her bad leg wouldn't cooperate. She nearly collapsed, had the succubus not caught her.
"Thanks," Gisella said, a tad embarrased to have nearly fallen on her face.
"No problem. Did you see who was on stage?" the succubus asked. She was clearly shorter than Gisella, so she couldn't exactly just stand on her toes to see.
"No, I couldn't," Gisella said, escalating her voice in order to allow the succubus to hear over the roar of the crowd. Larissa clearly stood out because of her height and her drunken swaying, but the bright lights from the stage made it too hard to see anyone else; however, neither Gisella or the succubus needed to see who was on stage to recognize who it was.
"Hello Globellum U!" shouted the lead vocals, "We are the Dead Rights, and what better night for us to perform than Halloween?"
Gisella's eyes widen and she rushed into the crowd. "Sorry!" she said back to the succubus and weaved her way through the crowd, "Larissa!"
Larissa looked at Gisella and swayed back and forth. She had a drunken smile plastered on her face with her knife tucked into her jacket. "What's wrong, mon?"
"We have to go do... something. Come on!" Gisella grabbed hold of Larissa's arm and dragged her through the crowd.
"Whoa! Where's the fire, mon?" Larissa drunkenly made out, but followed Gisella.
The two of passed by the succubus as they fled from the party. "Sorry to cut our conversations short! I had fun talking to you!" Gisella said to the succubus and the two of them left.
"It was nice talking to you too," the succubus said as the two of them left. She turned back to the stage and drank more of her punch. "I can't believe she and I both dated him," she said with a hint of regret and animosity toward the lead singer on stage, "at the same time."

"Okay, so, I think it would sound better if it transitioned from an A chord to a G chord when you played the E chord in that part," Gisella said, writing down on some note sheets.
The woman with the light cherry blonde hair sat down on Gisella's couch and huffed, "I know what I'm doing, Gisella." She rest her guitar on her knee and strummed a few notes.
"I never said you didn't, Rosa. I was talking about my part and I was asking for your opinion," Gisella said, not looking up from the paper.
"You should know what you're doing by now," Rosa said, placing her hands on her hips.
Gisella sighed and strummed a few notes on her bass guitar. "I half wish Larissa was here so we could finish the song."
"And the other half?"
"The other half is that Larissa would stay away so she wouldn't leave," Gisella said, trying to repeat some of her parts.
Rosa gave a confused look to Gisella. "Leave? Why would she leave?"
"It's simple," Gisella said, "You're here."
"Me?" Rosa exclaimed, "Why would she ever want to deter herself from MY prescence?"
"Gee, I can't think of a single reason," Gisella sarcastically said, rolling her eyes. Rosa huffed, but played along on her guitar. They strummed for a few minutes until the sound of a door unlocking interrupted them. Gisella tensed up and waited as Larissa entered the room.
"Geeze, work was a strain, mon," Larissa said, stretching her back. She yawned and sat down on a nearby chair, closing her eyes. "So, how's the song coming?"
"It's coming along, but, you know, I can only do so much," Gisella said, quickly covering Rosa's mouth before Rosa could say anything, "I can't really write down your parts for the drums. I only know bass guitar."
"Alright then, mon. Let me hear what you got," Larissa said, still keeping her eyes closed.
Gisella nodded, but gestured for Rosa to keep quiet. Rosa nodded back and Gisella proceeded to play what she had for the song. The notes fluidly strung together in a rhythmic harmony and Larissa swayed her head to the beat. Larissa hummed a tune while Gisella proceeded to sing the lyrics. Rosa's eyes widened a bit at the sound of Gisella's singing in person. It was singing unlike any that Rosa had ever heard before, and different than hearing it from a recording. Gisella continued to sing until she reached the end of what Rosa and she had written. She stopped playing while Larissa continued to hum the tune she had started in her head.
"You...you have a lovely voice," Rosa said, a little flustered at giving Gisella a compliment instead of an insult.
"Oh, thanks," Gisella said, but then her and Rosa's eyes both shot wide open as they realized what just happened. Larissa's eyes flew open and she quickly looked around. Her eyes locked onto Rosa and she went to reach for her drum sticks when Gisella blocked the way. "Larissa! Don't hurt her!"
"And why the hell not, mon? After all that she put us through?" Larissa exclaimed, twirling her drumsticks.
"She's not what she's lead us to believe, Larissa."
Larissa glared at Rosa, then to Gisella. "When this bites your rear, it's al your fault, mon." With that, Larissa began to storm off home, but turned to Rosa, pointing her drum stick at her. "Princess, the tenth, my house, 5 o' clock, don't be late."
November 10, 2011 5:30 PM
"...So you know how it grinds...the Gears of Life," Gisella sang, waiting patiently for Larissa to finish her drums and for the that light cherry blonde hair's previous chord to fade out.
"That's a rap, girls," Isabella said, shutting off the camera. She pressed a few buttons and grabbed a nearby electric cord. Isabella then proceeded to begin to upload the song to the website.
"See, Larissa? I told you Rosa could play," Gisella said, putting her bass guitar in its case.
"She did well enough, mon," Larissa said, twirling her drum sticks in her right hand.
"Well enough?" Rosa asked, offended, "I did amazing. I don't know what kind of beeswax has filled up your ears, but I played perfectly."
"The hell did you just say, mon!?" Larissa growled, slamming her drum sticks on her drums.
"Oh, so now you can hear?" Rosa taunted, smirking.
Larissa was ready to lunge at Rosa, but Gisella stepped between them. "Larissa! Stop! We don't need to fight, girls, alright?" Gisella said, glaring at both of them. Rosa huffed and Larissa grunted.
"Ugh, fine, mon," Larissa said, leaning back against the wall behind her. She drummed a few notes and closed her eyes.
"Hmph," Rosa grunted, "You should be treating me with more respect, Jamaican! Without me, you wouldn't even have a song for this round!"
"We don't need you for this round, mon!" Larissa exclaimed, clenching her fist around her drum sticks, but a glare from Gisella made her relax her grip.
"Look, both of you need to be nicer to each other!" Gisella said, giving glares to both of them, "Understood?"
Larissa scrunched up her face, but said, "Yes, Gisella, mon. I will try to be nicer to the princess."
"Fine, I'll try," Rosa said, putting her guitar in its case.
"Good," Gisella said, taking a deep sigh of relief, "Isabella, how is the song upload coming."
"It's going good," Isabella replied, not looking up from her computer, "However, it seems that next round, it's going to be another amp vs amp battle for you three."
"Amp vs amp?" Rosa stuttered, "You mean, actually on stage...live?"
"Yep," Isabella said, "The battle will either be against the Nighttime Swingers or the Spark Jackets."
"And the strange names continue, mon," Larissa said, twirling her drum sticks.
"It seems that the Nighttime Swingers are a blues themed band while the Spark Jackets are a pop band."
"Well, I'd much rather go against the blues than pop music, mon," Larissa said, drumming a beat.
"Yeah," Rosa said, sweating a little, "Being on stage, live, in front of hundreds, if not thousands of people...so fun..."
